RISK MANAGEMENT UPDATE!

Reminder to all coaches, trainers, managers that your Risk Management (Respect in Sport, Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry) must be in place by December 1st.

Anyone without current Risk Management/Coach Credentials by December 1st will be removed from the bench. Anyone in need of a coaching clinic will be approved as long as they are registered in an upcoming clinic.

Bench staff with suspensions from last year are illegible to be on the bench until their paperwork is current.

***ALL VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING RISK MANAGEMENT
REQUIREMENTS:
   

1.  CRC - Obtain a Criminal Record Check from the RCMP or local police detachment.  PCMHA can provide a volunteer letter that will waive any fees.  This document is submitted to PCMHA Risk Management for approval/submission to HNS.
2.  CAR - Complete and mail the Child Abuse Registry form (available under FORMS) to Dept of Community Services.  When the clearance letter is returned via mail, the document is submitted to PCMHA Risk Management for approval/submission to HNS.
3.  RIS - Respect in Sport - see details and link below.

At Hockey Nova Scotia, safety is our number one priority. We ensure that the game is organized and played in the safest manner possible. Our policies require that coaches complete a Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check. Players are protected by major liability, medical and dental policies. Abuse and harassment guidelines are also in place for all to respect and follow.

Hockey Canada Safety Program

The Hockey Canada Speak Out! Program provides training, educational programs and awareness of abuse and harassment for coaches, managers, safety people, parents, players and administrators. Abuse is when someone physically or verbally mistreats another person.

What should I do if I am or someone else is being abused?

Talk to someone you trust (i.e. parent, coach, trainer, manager, another parent, etc).

How do I report abuse?
