2015-02-01Bantam AA Subway Selects Shutout Bedford
The Pictou County Bantam AA Subway Selects shutout the Bedford Blues by a score of 2-0 on Saturday at the West Colchester Arena in Debert. In only their second meeting of the season, a Selects win could guarantee themselves a birth in the Provincial Championships scheduled for March in Glace Bay. The teams came out hard in a physical, penalty filled affair. The game was scoreless through the first period and most of the second before Taylor MacKenzie got the Subways on the board with just three minutes remaining in the middle frame. Hannah Porter scored an insurance marker early in the third on a nice feed from MacKenzie. The Selects managed to kill off a five on three midway through the third to maintain the lead and ultimately secure the win. Jenna Landry played a strong game in goal, earning the shutout. The victory places the Selects in second place in league standings with three games remaining in their schedule. The Selects return to league action with a tough three game series next weekend. The Subways travel to Bedford to take on the Blues on Friday night, then host the TASA Ducks on Saturday in Pictou before returning to Bedford to close out their league play against the Blues on Sunday afternoon.
