2014-10-29Ballantyne Fuels PeeWee AAA Crushers had a successful trip to Yarmouth this past weekend.
In game one, the Crushers and the Mariners battled through a tight match and had a 2-1 lead after 2. Scoring in the first period were Connor MacLeod and Ryan Green with Blake Kontuk earning an assist. Late in the third the Mariners pulled their goalie and had an extra attacker on the ice and Kontuk sealed the win with an empty net goal. Brayden Leblanc made key saves to earn the win.
On Sunday, the crew were in tough with the Mariners leading 3-1 after two periods of play. Ethan MacDonald opened the scoring for the Crushers with assists going to Ryan Green and Raymond Chisholm. In the third period with only 2 minutes 30 seconds left Chisholm brought it to within 1. With time running out and with the Crushers having an extra attacker, Ryan Green scored the tying goal with Thomas Schnare and Kontuk picking up assists. Keegan Walker was solid in goal. The team showed grit and determination throughout the weekend.
