BANTAM AA SELECTS WIN 2 of 3‏

The Pictou County Bantam AA Subway Selects played three games this weekend securing four out of six points as their regular season league play winds down. The Selects defeated the league leading TASA Ducks at home on Saturday by a score of 2-1. Taylor MacKenzie and Kassidy MacKinnon scored for the Selects while Chloe MacDonald and Heath Miller had assists in the game. The Subways travelled to Halifax on Sunday where they took on the second place Halifax Hawks. The Selects came out strong early and got out to a 1-0 late in the first period on a goal by Patti-Anne Tracey. The Hawks stormed back with three unanswered goals and dropped the Pictou County squad 3-1.
 
On Sunday afternoon the Selects headed to Sackville for their final regular season meeting with the Flyers. Sackville opened the scoring midway through the second period to take a 1-0 lead.  Camryn Halliday tied things up late in the middle frame. Tracey scored what proved to be the winner with two minutes remaining in the game to secure the two points for Pictou County. Jenna Landry was in gaol for all three games earning the two wins.
 
Pictou County plays their final regular season game this Monday when they host the Halifax Hawks at the Hector Arena in Pictou. Game time is 7pm.  The Selects will host the 2014 HNS Female Bantam AA Provincials the weekend of March 7-9.
